What is Past Life Regression?

My introduction to Regression came in 2000 during a Reiki treatment when my client spontaneously went into a past life. She began to speak to me in a child’s voice, recalling her daily routine, her surroundings and the bus ride to school.  It came as a bit of a shock to me, as at the time I was ‘sat on the fence’ where past lives/life after death, were concerned.
But, I went along with my intuition and talked her through the experience and the lessons to be taken on-board that would benefit in her current life. The results for the client afterwards were amazing, she got closure on the underlying cause of the issue that had been presenting for her at that time. This, of course, is the main aim, regardless of my beliefs or that of the clients even, to some degree.
‘The proof is in the pudding’, as the saying goes.
After that, it began to happen on a regular basis with different clients, interestingly all occurred during the ‘emotional healing’ process which is separate from a standard Reiki treatment.
This led me to Hypnotherapy as a module to learn more about how the subconscious works and how to conduct a Regression safely.

Hypnotherapy and Regression

Age regression (the process of taking a client back through their current life) is commonly used today with excellent results.  Similar to timeline therapy, the subconscious rewinding to specific marker points in the client’s life.
Past Life Regression, however, comes under some debate within the field of Hypnotherapy.
Therapists either love it or dismiss it, though many are becoming more open-minded towards it as the results achieved are generally quicker than other Hypnotherapy, with a lesser amount of clients slipping back into past behaviour patterns.
The debate around actual past-life recall or simply the subconscious mind creating a reality more desirable than their current lifetime seems to be the main discussion point.  In my experiences not all clients discover that they were Cleopatra or lived a decadent life, most find themselves in ordinary lives but all will take some resource from their journey that may be lacking today and ultimately find the resolve to their current situation.

Regression as a Therapy

Therapy Clients presenting symptoms of inexplicable fears, depression, guilt, shame, confidence issues, anxiety, panic attacks, sexual problems or personality problems like procrastination, negative beliefs or programming, repressed memories and emotions may benefit from a past life or age regression.

Results of regression therapy may be identified by:
  • Mental results: Clarity, mindfulness, self-knowledge, understanding others, the liberation of limiting beliefs.
  • Emotional results: Inner calm, self-acceptance, self-confidence, restored empathy, positive emotions and expression of emotions.
  • Somatic results: Disappearance of psychosomatic complaints such as low energy, tension, pain, hypersensitivities, also symptoms without a medical explanation.
